I got another chance the other night to do the kind of photography that is very enjoyable... I shot the cast of The House of Blue Leaves rehearsing for their performance.
I'm getting to know some folks in the Theater of the Round production company, the director and stager manager and I know each other from another play, and a few of the actors are familiar as well. It's a joy to do it mostly because the actors know why I am there (to volunteer for a documentary project of the theater and give the actors photos for their portfolios), and the are very willing to be natural throughout the informal shooting. In fact, there is no posing. I am capturing them as they work to interpret their roles. But, I am also seeing how playful they are with one another and how relaxed the creative process can be when unfettered by concerns for money, power or prestige and dominated by a mutual respect for one another.
The images for this project are stacking up nicely and we ought to have a full range of good stuff to someday show the patrons.
